Brandon Featured on the St. Louis Egotist

Brandon recently did an interview for the St. Louis Egotist, which features news and information for area creatives and ad folk. We were pretty busy promoting the new music video we did for The Nadas, so the article has slid down the home page a few slots, but you can still get the full scoop here. It's a pretty cool piece complete with some nerdy tech information and a handful of Brandon's images.

It's New Toy Tuesday!!

So we got a new dolly today. And what do we do at Bruton Stroube Studios when we get new toys? We do what's necessary to make sure they meet our stringent durability requirements. In other words: trial by fire (fire = Greg).

Oh, and check out our new pal Tim. He was chomping at the bit (or, in this case, the wall) to call dibs on the next ride.

By the Way, Football Season Is Here

We just wanted to remind you that football season is upon us. Which is fun. We also wanted to show you this photo of Brandon, who got on the tracks just before the train came through... Ouch.

Greg Stroube Nominated for a Black & White Spider Award

We recently got word that one of Greg's images was nominated for a Black & White Spider Award. Thousands of images were submitted from 62 countries across the globe, so getting the nod is a pretty cool thing.

Greg's image, Elle's Window #1, can be seen amongst the other nominees in the Architectural - Pro category at the Black & White Spider Awards Gallery. It's definitely worth it to take a few minutes and check out all the other nominees and winners-- there are a lot of talented photographers whose work is in that gallery. If you don't have the time to peruse the gallery, here's Greg's image in all its glory.

Congrats Greg!

The Nerdiest Wedding Reception Ever?

To celebrate my 2-month wedding anniversary, I thought I'd share with our loyal blog readers some of the ludicrous nerdery that went down at the reception on 6.7.08.

To start things off, I brought in Bruton Stroube's own Brandon Voges to run a photo booth in one corner of the reception hall. He had me shoot from a similar setup at his wedding reception, and the results were awesome (if I do say so myself). So I asked him to return the favor and shoot at my reception.

For the nerdy reception diagram, complete with specs and more photos, hit the jump.

Toot-toot: Interview with Brandon on LightSource Photography Podcast

I just happened to be cruising around the ol' interweb recently and took a trip down memory lane-- I watched the Paintball Office video again, and then came across a little interview piece Brandon did as a result.

The guys over at StudioLighting.net had also seen the Paintball Office video, and they dropped us a line to see if we would be interested in doing a interview to find out what demented individual would shoot someone in the face with a paintball gun.  Well, Brandon was that guy...so here is the interview page.  Or download the mp3 here.

OMG!! Matt's Preggers!

OK, so it's not actually Matt who's pregnant... It's his wife, Angela, who is carrying his spawn. But Matt is doing his part by putting on some sympathy weight. That's been going on for several years now, though, so we're not quite sure if it actually counts as sympathy weight.

Anyway, congrats to the Siemers. May your first child be a masculine child, unless it's a girl. That would make for uncomfortable social gatherings.

Brandon Shakes his Face into NYC Gallery Scene

One of the images from Brandon's Shaky Face series was selected as one of 25 Best of Show Portrait winners in the International Photography Awards. The Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass district of Brooklyn will be hosting the first-ever New York Photo Festival, which is being held from May 14-18.

Other notables in the Portrait category include Michael Grecco, Lauren Greenfield and Jim Fiscus, among others.

The opening is being held today (May 14) at 7 p.m. at the Farmani Gallery so if you happen to be checking this blog on your iPhone in NYC you should swing by, grab a glass of wine and take a ganders.

Now Playing: Sherry's Last Day (aka "Sherry gets Balloonified")

Friday marked the last day in the studio for Tom's trusty production assistant, Sherry. She decided to move on to a job that was closer to home, and that would give her an opportunity to handle more baby poop.

So to send her off, we wanted to fill her office to overflowing with babies, but when we realized that was cost-prohibitive and potentially in direct violation with many state and federal laws, we decided to use balloons instead.

The following is a chronicle of the festivities. No babies were harmed in the making of this film. Several hundred balloons, however, were totally harmed.

More photos and a fancy video after the jump.

Greg Stroube to receive ASMP "Photographic Vanguard Award"

Just announced!

From Jeremy DeWeese, President of ASMP:

"For the emerging photographer, you are symbol of what it is that one could aspire to become. For that reason, the ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) board has convened and bestowed upon you the honor of being the first recipient of the "Photographic Vanguard Award."  It is my hope that you will honor me by allowing me to work with you to create an event that highlights your accomplishments, by presenting a retrospective of your work, and by allowing those that have worked with you, and been inspired by you, an opportunity to share that with the community."

Event date will be May 8th.  We'll post an article with details soon as we get it.

Congratulations Greg!  You go boy!

Out Slackin' on the Slopes

Out in Colorado for a weekend of snowboarding and happened to cross paths with the man, the legend, the frosty mustache himself, Mr. Tom Stringer.  Here he is at the North Bowl (maybe 1-2 minutes from watching me roll down the run "White Crown").  Here is a nice big breckenridge map, in case you want to try to find out where we were.

Cheers to daylight savings time!

The New Bruton-Stroube Hats are in!

Mmmmmm...schwag!  Our funky new Bruton-Stroube hats are in.  We have two styles, military and regular baseball cap.  The military are in black and green, and the baseball caps are in beige and green (hats are modeled below by the very pretty, and new studio member, Mr. James McKenzie).  All the hats have a red tag on the side that has a small logo stitched into it.  If you'd like to get a hold of one of these limited edition hats, drop Tom or Beau a line to see how.
