Pinewood Derby 2010: Through The Eye(s) of a Car

Just for grins, we slapped together some footage shot by our Pinewood Derby car's onboard webcam. Might not be the best-quality footage, but it's a unique point of view nonetheless.

Capturing Liquid Gold

Greg was in the studio making some movin' pictures recently, so we thought you might like to see what he's been up to. As an added bonus, we'll give you a peek at some of the elaborate rigging and setup that goes into his beer shoots. See the stills after the break.

It's New Toy Tuesday!!

So we got a new dolly today. And what do we do at Bruton Stroube Studios when we get new toys? We do what's necessary to make sure they meet our stringent durability requirements. In other words: trial by fire (fire = Greg).

Oh, and check out our new pal Tim. He was chomping at the bit (or, in this case, the wall) to call dibs on the next ride.

Outtake from the 2009 Holiday Video

As we brainstormed ideas for the 2009 Holiday Card to blur the line between stills and video. We ended up shooting with two cameras side-by-side (as you can see in our behind the scenes video.) But in order to make the dualiecam system work smoothly, we did a lot of testing along the way. I don't want to ruin the surprise, so let's just go to the video.

MOTION GRAPHICS

We thought it's about time for us to highlight one of our new favorite capabilities-- motion graphics. We've been dabbling in video (mostly evidenced by our collection of behind the scenes vids showcased here) for some time, but we're really feeling like we're ready for primetime in 2010. Check out our newest reel:

Now Playing: Obi's Big Day

Not too long ago, Jon brought in his beloved poodle, Oberon, for a pet food shoot. Obi was alongside 20-some other dogs photographed as options for the food bags.

Although Obi didn't make the final cut and get his mug in pet owners' homes all over America, he did get a full spa treatment. Too bad he didn't think it was as fun as we did.

enjoy.

Now Playing: Sherry's Last Day (aka "Sherry gets Balloonified")

Friday marked the last day in the studio for Tom's trusty production assistant, Sherry. She decided to move on to a job that was closer to home, and that would give her an opportunity to handle more baby poop.

So to send her off, we wanted to fill her office to overflowing with babies, but when we realized that was cost-prohibitive and potentially in direct violation with many state and federal laws, we decided to use balloons instead.

The following is a chronicle of the festivities. No babies were harmed in the making of this film. Several hundred balloons, however, were totally harmed.

More photos and a fancy video after the jump.
